RIBCRAFT Sponsors 2005 Grey Goose ISAF Team Racing World Championships

Marblehead, MA, September 26, 2005 – RIBCRAFT, the leading supplier of rigid inflatable boats for sailing programs and yacht clubs and a proud sponsor of the 2005 Grey Goose ISAF Team Racing World Championships at the New York Yacht Club currently taking place in Newport, RI, today announced that more than twenty RIBCRAFT RIBs have descended on Newport as umpire and support craft for the regatta.

RIBCRAFT provided more than 20 RIBCRAFT 4.8s to the New York Yacht Club for the Grey Goose ISAF Team Racing Worlds. Through RIBCRAFT’s unique sponsorship program for clubs and sailing organizations, the New York Yacht Club purchased the 4.8s from RIBCRAFT at a discounted price and in turn pre-sold the boats to their members to offset the costs of the event.

Eleven countries have come to Newport to compete for the 2005 Grey Goose ISAF Team Racing World Championship. Utilizing offensive and defensive techniques, each boat moves strategically to advance a teammate or slow a challenger. With two teams sailing three vs. three at a time, the emphasis is not on one boat’s finishing position, but on the overall performance of the three boat team for which there are 10 winning and 10 losing scoring combinations. Racing begins on Monday September 26th and continues with the finals on October 1st. All racing will be held close to shore where bleachers are set up for spectators to watch the regatta.
