RIBCRAFT Announces the Recent Delivery of a New Rescue Boat to the Shrewsbury Fire Department. Marblehead, MA April 2018 - Located in central Massachusetts with several lakes and ponds in their jurisdiction, the Shrewsbury Fire Department provides on-water rescue operations in the local waters, particularly Lake Quinsigamond. The 15' RIBCRAFT 4.8 will serve as a fast response deployable boat for the Department, greatly expanding their response capabilities while providing a safe platform for rescue missions.

RIBCRAFT worked with the Department to understand their operational requirements and built a boat that met all their needs. The Department’s RIBCRAFT 4.8 features a forward positioned center console with attached pod seat and a custom collapsible antenna arch; this hinging arch is designed to fit under a low lying bridge on one of the local ponds. Powered by a 70HP Yamaha, the RIB will reach speeds in excess of 30MPH while still providing unparalleled safety and unsurpassed performance.

Additional features of the 15' RIB include:

- Heavy duty Hypalon red tube with black rubstrake and a pair of tube grab handles
- Launching trailer

Designed specifically as a deployable surf rescue craft, the RIBCRAFT RIB will allow the Fire Department to better serve the community by reaching more on-water areas previously inaccessible. Within weeks of delivery the new boat was put to use in a bridge-jumper water rescue. The 4.8 is a reliable and durable patrol boat for the Shrewsbury Fire Department to continue rescue operations in the local surrounding waters.
