MARBLEHEAD, Mass. -- July 7, 2014 - RIBCRAFT, the United States manufacturer of professional grade rigid inflatable boats (RIBs) for safety professionals, law enforcement, and military agencies, announced the recent delivery of a custom RIBCRAFT 7.0 for specialized water rescue and dive team operations to the City of Cambridge, MA.
The 24' purpose built multi mission RIB will be used by the City of Cambridge Fire Department Dive Team, for search and rescue, dive operations and oil containment responses. Given Cambridge's, active waterways, the new RIB will provide the department with improved response times and enhanced on-water coverage.
Due to height restrictions on the Charles River, the departments new RIBCRAFT 7.0 features a custom height console with a removable light arch. Featuring a single 295HP V6 Steyr diesel engine and Hamilton Jet, the boat reaches a top speed of over 40 mph while still providing shallow water operation, optimal maneuverability, and the ability to easily maintain station. The large open deck provides space for divers, patient care, or general work area.
The boat is equipped with Simrad NSS12 GPS with structure scanning technology, custom tow posts, dive tank rack, and a fold down dive ladder for added response techniques. Originally designed as a deployable shipboard vessel capable of operating in both open sea conditions and near shore shallow water operations, the RIBCRAFT 7.0 meets all of Cambridge Fires operational requirements.
