RIBCRAFT Featured in the Pages of Cruising World

Marblehead, MA, January 15, 2006 – As the official RIB of the 2006 Sailing World and Cruising World Boat of the Year, RIBCRAFT received special recognition in the Editor’s Log of the January Issue of Cruising World.

After spending a week aboard a RIBCRAFT 7.8 with the judges of the 2006 Boat of Year as they evaluated over twenty-five sailboats in the rough waters off Annapolis, Cruising World Editor, Herb McCormick, recounts their RIBCRAFT experience. “There we’d board our chase boat – an all-black RIBCRAFT 7.8 powered by a single 4 stroke Honda 225 HP outboard – and moments later we’d be flying over lumpy Chesapeake Bay at close to 50 mph, en route to a full day of sailing.”

Continuing on to describe their weeklong “Boat Camp” in which the judges raced from boat to boat aboard their RIBCRAFT, McCormick writes, “A quick word about our 25-foot, 7-inch RIBCRAFT, which was expertly operated for the sailing portion of our trials by the company’s very capable driver. There’s no way we could’ve arrived for our respective appointments in any better style, even if we did at times more closely resemble a boatload of Navy SEALs or a waterborne SWAT team than the boat reviewers, editors, and judges we actually were.”

The culmination of their first hand RIBCRAFT experience was best summarized by McCormick’s closing line, “When all was said and done, our senior judge, Bill Lee, nominated the RIBCRAFT 7.8 as his personal pick for Boat of the Year. I think he was kidding, but maybe not.”
