RIBCRAFT Delivers Coast Guard Certified RIBCRAFT 9.0 Tour Boat

Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA May 04, 2005 - RIBCRAFT, the US designer and builder of rigid inflatable boats (RIB) for marine professionals, recently delivered a 30’ Coast Guard certified passenger-for-hire RIB to an adventure tour operator in Hawaii. Constructed of fiberglass and featuring RIBCRAFT’s offshore design, the RIBCRAFT 9.0 Tour boat sets a new standard for certified passenger-for-hire RIBs.

Certified in Hawaii, the RIBCRAFT 9.0 exceeds current federal statutes for certified boats and meets all regulations for the state which takes precedent over federal laws. At 29’5”, the RIBCRAFT 9.0 is one of only of few fiberglass boats certified for this use in the state and the only certified FRP vessel over 27’ currently in production for Hawaii. “Until now, tour operators have had few options when it came to selecting certified RIBs for their businesses” said Matthew Velluto, RIBCRAFT’s Director of Marketing. “Aluminum hulls have dominated the certified passenger for hire market in Hawaii. However, environmental conditions and longevity concerns have shown aluminum is not up to the task.”

As a Coast Guard certified vessel, the hull is constructed of fire retardant resin and meets all standards as outlined by the American Bureau of Shipping for high speed craft. All mechanical, electrical and safety systems meet USCG CRF33 subchapter “T” for passenger for hire vessels.

This particular RIBCRAFT 9.0 features eight of RIBCRAFT’s jockey-style pod seats in front of the console and a large custom back to back centerline bench seat with considerable built in storage just aft of the helm. In the state of Hawaii, passengers are permitted to sit on the tube while underway, as a result the tube features 12 grab handles and full lifelines for passenger seating. For added safety, a continuous foot strap runs the length of the deck. Additionally, a custom aluminum top with integrated swim ladders provides needed protection from the sun and added storage for lifesaving equipment. The power plant features twin Honda 225 HP four stroke engines, the boat safely reaches speeds in excess of 40 knots.

With each RIBCRAFT 9.0 Tour model customized to the customer’s specifications, customers have the ability to select configurations that best meet their business needs. Multiple forms of propulsion are available, from twin four stroke outboards to inboard diesels with props or jets. Tour operators can also choose hull and tube colors to match their corporate identity. These are excellent craft for eco friendly tours, whale watching, adventure rides, shuttle and taxi services, or any activity where transporting passengers safely is essential.
