Stay Safe on the Water with Your Life Jacket
With Memorial Day right around the corner signifying the start to the boating season, the National Safe Boating Council and the Coast Guard is again encouraging boaters to wear their life jackets with the “Wear It” campaign during National Safe Boating Week which starts on Saturday. The Coast Guard estimates that in 2008 90% of boaters who drowned were not wearing life jackets, which translates into 400 deaths that could have been prevented by simply wearing a life jacket. Here at RIBCRAFT we make it standard practice to always wear a life jacket, regardless of the length of time we expect to spend out on the water or the conditions. There are so many options available now that your life jacket doesn’t have to be uncomfortable and an easy way to stay safe out on the water.
For more information on PFDs or to see how each state is supporting the "Wear It" campaign across the country, check the National Safe Boating Council’s website.
