Proposed Moratorium on Boat Sales Tax in Wisconsin
I read an interesting article in one of our marine trade publications on a proposed bill in Wisconsin that would place a year-long moratorium on state sales tax for motorboat, outboard motors and trailer purchases up to $30,000. The bill was proposed by State Rep. John Townsend, R- Fond du Lac, who said that he will be looking for co-sponsors. The author points out that the marine industry has a fairly large presence in Wisconsin and this bill will help to both preserve jobs and allow residents to take advantage of the numerous lakes that the state has to offer.
